Dean McGee Scores First Win of 2008 at Lee County Speedway

(Galesburg, IL - May 7th, 2008) – Dean McGee and the H7 Racing Team started out the month of May with a bang as they won the season opener at Lee County Speedway in Donnelson, Iowa.  This is the first victory of the young 2008 racing season for McGee and crew and only the second night out for their new GRT IMCA Modified. After finishing 3rd in the heat race, McGee drew the outside front row for the A-Main Showdown. The new Gustaf powered, GRT was a little uncomfortable to start the 20 lap A-Main, as McGee slid back to third at the start of the race. However, McGee would stay close to the leaders and the car would get better as they approached the halfway point. With 5 laps to go, McGee was at the back bumper of second place and looking to make a move for the lead. Two laps later McGee made a move to make a 3-wide battle for the lead coming out of two, but that would be halted as the yellow flag waved for debris on the track. The debris was for the second place car, and he would be sent to the back. This put Dean in 2nd for a 3 lap shootout to the finish. After taking the green, the leader would bobble coming out of turn two on the high side, and McGee was able to duck down low to go on for the Miller Lite IMCA Feature win. The following night the team was supposed to travel to 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa, but the races were cancelled due to weather and wet grounds.
